THE ONE HOOK GALLERY war eine interaktive Installation, die in Kunsträumen, Galerien und Ausstellungsorten gastiert hat.
Sie war ein Ort des Austausches, mit Lust am Schaffen und Gestalten, am Kreieren und Protestieren als Triebfeder. Die BesucherInnen waren gleichzeitig KünstlerInnen, KuratorInnen und KundInnen.
THE ONE HOOK GALLERY was an interactive installation which takes place in different galleries and exhibition rooms.
It was a platform for exchange which supports the desire of creating, designing, but also protest as a driving force. The visitors were artists, curators and clients at the same time.
So funktioniert‘s: Es wird immer nur ein Werk ausgestellt, und zwar genau jenes, welches am Haken hängt. Egal ob gemalt, gesprayt, fotografiert, gegossen oder gehäkelt – alles kann hängen und bei Gefallen auch mitgenommen werden. Einzige Bedingung ist jene, dass der/die Kunde/Kundin als “Bezahlung” eines der eigenen Werke an den Haken hängt und zur Beschau und Verschleppung freigibt. Der/Die KünstlerIn schickt anschließend ein Foto des neuen Werkes, den Namen sowie den Titel der Arbeit an die Initiatoren der Gallery, die diese Informationen dann auf diesem Blog sowie auf Facebook veröffentlichen.
Durch die Schaffung eines niederschwelligen Zugangs zu etablierten Kunsträumen für Kreative aller Art möchten wir einen Beitrag zur Demokratisierung der Kunst liefern. Die Installation soll zur Diskussion darüber anregen, was Kunst ist, wer Kunst macht und welchen Wert sie hat – sowohl materiell als auch ideell.
And that’s how it works: There is always only one piece of art that is exhibited – the one on the hook. No matter if painted, sprayed, photographed, founded or knitted – everything can be put on the hook, and everybody who likes it is free to take it. The only condition is that the client “pays” by leaving an own work of art on the hook which everybody can now admire and take away too. Afterwards the artist sends a photo of the new object as well as his/her name and the title of the piece of art to the initiators of the gallery. They will publish this information on this blog as well as on Facebook.
We would like to contribute to the democratization of art by creating easy access to established exhibition rooms and galleries for all kind of creative people. The installation is meant to start a discussion about the following questions: What is art about? Who creates art? Which value has it? – Not only from the materialistic point of view, but also from an idealistic perspective.
Die erste Phase der Aktion fand im Off-Space des “Fox-House” statt und begann am 14.04.2012 und endete am 06.06.2012.
Alle Werke, die in dieser Zeit am Haken hingen, wurden in einer Gruppenausstellung vom 12. bis zum 28.06.2012 im „Haberlier“ in der Haberlgasse 74 gezeigt.
Die KünstlerInnen wechselten sich mit der Aufsicht ab und veranstalteten an den Tagen, an denen sie die Ausstellung betreuten, verschiedene Aktionen.
The first presentation of the ONE HOOK GALLERY took place in the “Off-Space” of the ““Fox-House” . It started on the 14th of April and ended on the 6th of June 2012.
All the works of art which had been exhibited during this period of time were afterwards presented in a group exhibition from the 12th to the 28th of June 2012 in the “Haberlier” in Haberlgasse 74.
The artists were alternately in charge of representing the exhibition and organized different activities and performances.
Vom 19. bis 21.10. 2012 wurde die ONE HOOK GALLERY im Rahmen der “Innovationspreistage.12“ im “mo.ë“ in der Thelemanngasse 4 installiert.
From the 19th to the 21st of October 2012 the ONE HOOK GALLERY was presented within the scope of the “Innovationspreistage.12“ in the “mo.ë“ in Thelemanngasse 4.
Vom 29.03. bis 27.06.2013 war die ONE HOOK GALLERY zu Gast im Kunst- und Kulturlokal “AU” in der Brunnengasse 76 im 16. Bezirk. Während dieser Zeitspanne wurden 10 Werke getauscht.
From the 29th of March to the 27th of June 2013 the ONE HOOK GALLERY took place in the “AU”, a platform for art and culture in Brunnengasse 76 in the 16th district of Vienna. During this time 10 pieces of art were exchanged.
Die ONE HOOK GALLERY war eingeladen bei der PARALLEL VIENNA 2014 die von 1. bis 5. Oktober 2014 stattfand. In diesem Zeitraum war es dem Publikum möglich, die ONE HOOK GALLERY zu bespielen, um so die Ausstellung mitzugestalten.
The ONE HOOK GALLERY was invited to take part in the “PARALLEL VIENNA 2014” which took place from the 1st to the 5th of October 2014. During these days it was possible for the visitors to exchange the works of art in order to contribute actively to the exhibition.
Vom 18. bis 22. November 2015 gastiert die ONE HOOK GALLERY im Rahmen vom ARTmART bei Ludwig & Adele im Stadtkino Foyer. Während diesem Zeitraum ist es möglich an der ONE HOOK GALLERY mitzuwirken und Kunst zu tauschen.
The ONE HOOK GALLERY is invited to take part in the “ARTmART 2015” which takes place from the 18th to the 22nd of November 2015. During these days it is possible for the visitors to exchange the works of art.
Von 31. März bis 2. April 2017 ist die ONE HOOK GALLERY Teil der Ausstellung „At Home Gallery Wien / Basel / RGB„. Während diesem Zeitraum ist es dem Publikum möglich die Ausstellung aktiv mitzugestalten.
From March 31st to April 2nd 2017 THE ONE HOOK GALLERY is part of the exhibition „At Home Gallery Wien / Basel / RGB„. During this period it is possible for the audience to change and shape the exhibition actively.
